About Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the principle that all the systems of the body are mapped in reflex points on the feet, and hands. It is helpful for all ages, and can be comforting and very effective for older people. Click for link
Stimulation of the approximately 7,500 nerve endings in the feet help us to open up the natural pathways your body uses to nourish and heal itself. Areas that are tender or "gritty" areas may indicate congestion in the corresponding area of the body.
During treatment a deep sense of relaxation is created in the body, interrupting the pattern of stress and may aid to bring the body systems back into balance. Reflexology is really well established holistic therapy treating the mind and body as a whole to achieve a state of general well-being.

What may reflexology do for you?

Reflexology is a wonderful aid for: relaxation, for being an aid to the release of tension, improved sleep, improved circulation, improved mood and increased wellbeing.

The healing benefit of touch is immense. It’s even more powerful when received from someone else. And of course it is doubly effective when the the touch is given by someone who is trained and experienced in one of the hands-on therapy’s.

The bonus benefit of reflexology is that by working only the feet/hands or ears you are being ‘touched’ in numerous ways.

Reflexology on your feet works on the structure of your feet and ripples up through the fascia to the rest of your body.

Reflexology on your feet travels up the 10 zones of your body, as marked out by your 10 toes and benefits every organ and system.

Reflexology on your feet causes a response that meanders throughout your body via the 6 meridians that are linked to the toes .

Reflexology on your feet promotes the flow of the ‘flowie’ parts of your body, allowing all the cells to be nourished, hydrated and oxygenated.

Reflexology on your feet not only works on your physical body, but also on a mental and emotional level, with each toe representing an aspect of the emotional/mental body.

Reflexology is a true ‘multi tasking’ modality.

It is now believed that stress causes 80% of diseases. It suppresses the immune system, which makes it easier for you to get sick and harder for you to be able to fight infections. When people get stressed they get ill. Stress seems to worsen or increase the risk of conditions such as obesity, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, depression, gastrointestinal problems, asthma and mental health problems.

Stress is known to depress the immune system. Colds and viruses are more common in stressed people. Viruses can cause some cancers, thus keeping a strong healthy immune system is a must. Stress has also been linked to Parkinson's disease.

Reflexology may be able to interrupt the pattern of stress in your body giving the right condition for your body to be able to heal itself.

As a reflexologist I treat the person and not medical conditions, reflexology does not claim to cure, but to support your body to heal.

What reflexology feels like

Experiences with reflexology sessions vary from a general feeling of relaxation, to a sense of "lightness" or tingling in the body, as well as feelings of warmth, a sense of "opening," or "energy moving" from the practitioner's pressure to the specific body area or organ. There is often a physical perception of energy flowing through every organ, valve, gland, or muscle, as well as a sense of communication between each body system.
